A rest day in Paris - what’s not to like! Not a down day though, there’s a whole big city to re-explore and to introduce Chris to. Actually, on a rest day, we rest, but not today. Double decker bus tour at our the city to see the lay of the land and decide where to go for lunch - Montmarte or the Bastille Market for roast poulet and potatoes with a bottle of wine by the Seine?
Breakfast by while watching Paris wake up - coffees, croissants and tartine, but we think it’s a baguette, butter and jam
Sun coming out from behind the Eiffel Tower
The tour audio said this was a unicorn, where’s the horn then? It’s an alicorn or possibly Pegasus?
The Grand Palais
Cafes and little bistros everywhere you look
Printemps, one of the first French department stores
Bridge over the river Seine
The odd gargoyle
Musée de Orsay - there’s the most beautiful tearoom there
Wish we had time for a boat trip
We do get to ride the Champs d’Elysee to the Arc d’Triompe, just not on our bikes!
May be the most confusing roundabout ever!
Found some bigger beers!
Walked up all the steps to Montmarte, had lunch on the square and then saw the Sacre Coure, that beautiful white church overlooking the city
Frogs legs - yep, they taste like chicken
Easy escargot
Dinner out on Ile St. Louis, on of our favourite places! Enjoyed our dinner companion, His Majesty.
Paris at night, amazing place for an after dinner stroll!

Soooo pretty. Yup, still my fav city. Looks like Chris and I have at least one thing in common...his biggest smile so far has been with a gigantic beer in his hand! That was a monster beer!
ReplyDeleteParis is in our top two with London. Two of the best capital cities in the world!
DeleteObviously there is only so much you can do in a day but we did pretty well; sightseeing, eating, drinking and resting. Superb day and two nights even if it was too short. I think all three of us are looking forward to our next (longer) visit to Paris. Look at for Monday’s entry on “getting out of Paris” !!!!!
